I think he can

I try not to get involved in things such as So You Think You Can Dance...but, I happened upon this 17 year old kid auditioning for the show, and, I mean really, what's not to like? What's not to pull for? I hope this kid does great things and gets a chance to try out his dreams. I have no doubt he's already put up with a lot of shit from his peers. All I can say is...like Billy...Go Nathan!

What did they miss?

Saw this over at Cinematical this morning...and you know...it's a very decent accounting of top movie lines, even though I wish they had given themselves more time so that the full lines could have been spoken! Some of them are cut, and some fly by so fast I'm not even sure what they were. But, for the most part...they done good.

But, I have to wonder, just how classic or best some of these lines really are. Welcome to Jurassic Park? Over say...They call me Mr. Tibbs?  Um...no!

So, I'm here to ask...what else did they miss?  Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.  Well, that one is just inexcusable.  And there are probably 5 others from The Princess Bride more worthy then anything from Junior....or was that Kindergarden Cop? No matter...you get my drift.

So, I'm asking...what are your favorite movie quotes?  What do you think they missed?

Oh my! Precious

I am now regretting not choosing Gaboury Sadibe in my Actress Pyschic picks this year. If Keisha and Catalina can get noms...it sure as hell looks like this woman should be a shoo in. I said should be...but never underestimate the stupidity of the academy when it comes to outward female beauty.  The prom queen element is always looming.

But, hey, check out Monique! Damn!  And Mariah...Mariah, we will forgive you for Glitter now.

This is an "I can't wait" film.

It's at Cannes now...but Precious doesn't open until November.
Keep it in your sites, ya'll!

I've abandoned my blog!

My blog!  I have abandoned my blog!

Do you ever feel like maybe you've abandoned your life?  Like, I think I'll just step away from this shizz for awhile?  It's kind of like running on automatic pilot.  So, I'm not actually floating in the corner of the room watching myself, because, that would be weird, right...but, I do feel like part of me has taken a vacation and I don't have any contact information.

Getting things done has been torture.  Cheney would approve.

But, get things done I must if I don't want to be pushing a shopping cart through downtown L.A.
in the near future.

I will be back....stayed tuned.

I'm not dead...yet

But, I have been out of town for a week...and it involved a lot of beer and cigarettes and loud juke box music and dear old friends.
It also involved, no sleep and some painful shit...that we won't talk about...yet.

Oh, and I had no idea how bad economy seats had gotten.
Must win lottery, must win lottery.

Whatever Works

What do ya'll think? I'm thinking, I cain't wait to see this. It looks very funny, and sweet.

I hope Sony Classics has gotten a clue and promotes this film well!

Whatever Works opens June 19th

Just because

...I still think this is funnier then dick-in-a-box.

Set yourself up as a good girl, smart, Harvard educated...then you can bust any move you want, and no one knows what the truth is. Is she a rebel? Is she a goody-two shoes? Is she a narcissistic beeotch? Has she got a stick up her ass? Is she a professional hitman? She kept her shit pretty private...so, we're all left wondering...who is Natalie Portman really?
She'll kill your fucking dog for fun...so, don't push her.

I am in Hell...okay, maybe not.

While I'm waiting for the new Whatever Works trailer to be available....or gettable...here is the counter program, Drag Me To Hell.  Sam Raimi doing what Sam Raimi ought to be doing.  No more Spiderman movies, please.

Drag Me To Hell will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

I'd say Alison Lohman is about to get a big boost to her career.

Drag Me To Hell opens May 29th

R.I.P. to a sweet soul

Dom DeLuise died Monday at the age of 75.

I met him once. I was having a pleasant conversation with him and his wife, when suddenly, it struck me...he was Jeremy from The Secret Of Nimh..."A sparkly!" I shouted. He thought I was a nut, but that was okay, because he respected nuts.
He was also Itchy in All Dogs Go To Heaven.  Another reason my kids will never forget Mr. DeLuise.

And while I know that he had a great many successes besides his magnificent voice over work...well, I love to think that each new generation of children will grow up with his wonderful voice and sense of humor in their ears.

If all dogs do go to Heaven, they're in good company today.

Anne-Marie: Charlie, will I ever see you again?
Charlie: Sure you will, kid. You know goodbyes aren't forever.
Anne-Marie: Then goodbye, Charlie. I love you.
Charlie: Yep... I love you too.

Julie And Julia

Yeah, yeah, I know...I'm way behind here. I am busy, busy, busy. Like a little bee before cell phones.
This is the trailer for the Julia Child/Meryl Streep movie. Judging from this...I'm there. Meryl looks absolutely charming here. While I'm not a big fan of Amy Adams, It looks as if the film is well-balanced between the two actresses. And then there's Stanley Tucci! I am a big Stanley Tucci fan ever since I first remember seeing him in Prelude To A Kiss.

So, enjoy this trailer while I get some work done, and get back to my Rosetta Stone French lessons, and wash my hair.

The return of Seabiscuit

I had to at least post a picture...you know I did!

Mine That Bird won the Kentucky Derby in the second largest upset in history.  A gelding, who was sold at auction as a foal for 9500.00...which is the cost of a decent western pleasure horse.  A skinny little horse that stood in a trailer for 21 hours while his trainer drove him from New Mexico in his own pick-up truck. Arrived on Monday....won the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, a decisive victory, by 6 lengths and change.  His jockey, Calvin Borel, a character with his own story, yelling to the crowd, rejoicing, crying, invoking his deceased parents. The whole thing was the best time that I've had at the Derby since I was actually at the derby in 1976.

Didn't Seabiscuit run during the last depression?  Wouldn't it be wonderful to see this improbable little horse win the Triple Crown?  I know, it was probably one magical day that won't come again.  You think those other jockeys aren't going to be watching for Calvin Borel to come up the rail again?

But, the idea sure gives me something to smile about.

If you didn't see it...watch here. The race is only half of it...the must see is the jockey being interviewed immediately after the race. His joy and the horses' calm, matter of fact manner were...well...winning.

Run for the roses

I am a real nut job when it comes to the Kentucky Derby.  Just FYI.  I'll be glued to the television for the next three hours.  I had Pioneerof The Nile for the last two weeks, but, if he goes off the favorite...well, that's not good is it?  I'm still gonna bet him.  Also, Friesan Fire...loves the off-track...mud as it were.  Isn't that track a bit sloppy today? My, long shot feelings are Chocolate Candy and Papa Clem.

My daughter usually picks the winner. She has an outstanding record for being right. But, I can't get her on the phone, so, I'll bet all four and hope for the best!  Post time is at 5pm central time.

Be back soon with Friday Night netflix...Synecdoche, New York and movie mom for April!
